The All-TIME 100 Albums

The All-TIME 100 Albums
We researched and listened and agonized until we had a list of the greatest and most influential records ever - and then everyone complained because there was no Pink Floyd on it. And that’s exactly how it should be

No it’s not how it should be at all! It should be sensible and reasoned and not insulting…four of the nine albums from the 2000s are by people who were dead LONG before the 2000s started.

I shan’t waste my breath suggesting what’s missing but what’s included is an embarrassing joke clearly put together by people who clearly know absolutely bloody nothing. Lists like this don’t inspire sensible debate and discussion they merely demonstrate that the world doesn’t deserve beautiful and insightful music because wankers who write this sort of thing would rather hear a compilation of forty-year old Elvis tracks.

Arseholes!

  1. Andy, the TIME blurb goes on to say “We hope you’ll treat the All-TIME 100 as a great musical parlor game.” They’re trying to provoke us. Let’s not take the bait. As you say, don’t waste your breath. It’s a new school of journalism that says, “we can’t be arsed to think of anything original to write about music, so what can we do? A list, yeah, that should be easy. But let’s not spend too much time on it; if we make it really shoddy, perhaps that will increase the chances of our readers being provoked and doing our work for us?” To which our response should be just to walk away.

  2. And I fell for it! It just makes me so cross that a reputable(?) news source can have so little respect for its readership. But you’re right I should know better and give such childish nonsense a wide berth.
