A Head Full of Wishes (the web site) has spread it’s wings and now also exists as…

A Head Full of Wishes (the last.fm group)

and

A Head Full of Wishes (the Flickr group)

So there’s new places to satisfy obsession with Galaxie 500, Luna, Damon & Naomi, Britta Phillips & Dean Wareham and anything else related…

On Fire changed John Porcellino’s life

I love when things I love like comics and music overlap so seeing this in Drawn and Quarterly or a Galaxy [sic] 500 poster in Craig Thompson’s “Blankets” will always give me a buzz (sad huh?).

A Head Full of Wishes: Britta Phillips on Tell Me Do You MissMe

Posted on April 4th, 2006 by Andy

A Head Full of Wishes has been my (internet) pride and joy for eleven years now but the “original” and “exclusive” content has been pretty limited so I’m quite proud of having Q&A interviews with all the former members of Luna showing up over the next few weeks - first up is Britta talking about the upcoming film and the farewell tour. Over the next few weeks there’ll be posts from Lee, Sean, Dean and documentary film-maker Matthew Buzzell.

Now I know getting a Q&A from Luna was not a hard thing to do but I never did it before so I can still be proud…Hazel chose to mock me for doing a scarily anal annotation of the “interview” but I felt the need to milk it!

Galaxie 500 Peel Sessions

Posted on September 2nd, 2005 by Andy

Galaxie 500 Peel Sessions

Oh man this has been such a long time coming. The only failing of the otherwise wonderful Galaxie 500 Box Set was the glaring omission of the bands two sessions recorded for the legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel’s radio show. Thankfully that oversight is about to be rectified as Damon & Naomi’s own record label 20/20/20 is putting out a CD with the all eight tracks from the two sessions

The sessions recorded in 1989 and 1990 included a version of Sex Pistols Submission and Buffy Saint Marie’s Moonshot (which Dean Wareham later recorded with Britta Phillips for their album L’Avventura).

The CD will be released on November 14th and you can pre-order now and receive a limited edition postert of the album artwork

Kind of sweet and sort of emotional and a little bit odd and a lot wonderful and a tad tearful. Luna’s last European show at ULU in London last week was everything it should have been (except maybe an hour or two longer). A packed house and an enthusiastic audience saw the band rattle through a fine set…and afterwards we all went home…with our lives a little bit emptier than when we had arrived.
