Went to CenterParcs at the weekend for my dad’s 70th birthday… this is the only time I’ve ever seen him on a bike which I guess proves that you don’t forget how to do it – it really is just like riding a bike…

Helen and I pose for a school photo at St Paul’s school in Thames Ditton Surrey. I’d guess this must have been around 73 or 74 – do I look nine or ten? And so much hair…

I pretty much remember only two things from primary school…

My glasses getting run over by a school bus. Actually I’m a little puzzled that I don’t have my glasses on in this photo – I wore them all the time, so I suppose vanity or the photographer made me take them off – I’m inclined to go with the latter.
Helen getting left behind on her first day because she didn’t know to get on the bus and Anton and I getting a serious telling off for our negligence. She was brought home by a teacher. I recall being outraged that we got told off because of Helen’s stupidity – what a lovely caring big brother I was!

Today we finally finished getting Adam prepped for high school (or secondary school as it used to be called) so today’s almost random picture is of me 33 years ago ready for my first day at secondary school (or high school as they call it these days). As a bonus you also get to see Helen posing in her uniform too!

This is me holding Scrapper – the first and only dog I was ever given – like I suspect many of my age (what am I 10??) the idea of having a puppy (the playing and the loyal friend) was more interesting than the reality (the walking on cold mornings and the cleaning up poo) – eventually Scrapper was given a more cat-like life, wandering around the village at his leisure and terrorizing the local farm life.

After threats from a local farmer Scrapper was “given to the laundry man” which Helen and I assumed was a euphemism for being put down and it was only many years later that we discovered that he really had been given to a laundry man!

Yesterday we visited Ju and Mary to meet the kitten that would become our new family member in a few weeks time. Penny will have a cat-like existence by default and Hanwell doesn’t have too many farm animals to terrorize.

Adam has his Grade 4 piano exam on Saturday this is by way of a good luck wish and to show that, like the insanely ambitious parents we are, we started him off at a very young age

This is one of the photos I took with an Easter egg box for Worldwide Pinhole Day last Sunday – all were a little underexposed and needed plenty of time in some very old developer to get any sort of image out of them. Adam was grumpy at this point and refused to keep still so he was never going to be anything but a blur anyway!

There are a couple more of my photos on Flickr and a Flickr group showing other peoples better efforts.
