Last week I saw Anna Calvi and Throwing Muses on consecutive nights at The Shepherds Bush Empire. Anna and Kristin made a noticeably different choice of footwear – one chose comfortable, sensible shoes and looked cool, one chose rather ridiculous shoes and looked awkward and quite, quite silly…

Neither picture is from the London show – but their chosen footwear was very similar

Long, long time since I gave this series a kick but Dean’s shiny shoes with yellow laces as worn at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle last weekend deserve getting shown off – particularly as this lovely picture by Araakii shows them off so beautifully.

After railing at Sgt. Pepper, and inspired to listen to McCartney’s solo and Wings work it seemed that it was also time to sing the praises of Paul’s footwear of choice.

I could rant as much about how I don’t like Abbey Road, we listened to it last night and if anything it reaffirmed my dislike of it…but there’s not much point – I think I could count the post-Pepper Beatles songs I like on one hand.

The reason that this series died a death was that, for the most part, the music I listen to is of a certain type and that certain type of music is played by sensible people wearing sensible footwear. Let’s face it “here’s a picture of a sensible chap wearing sensible shoes” doesn’t really make for a particularly interesting blog post…anyway…

The last time Dean appeared in this series I rushed off to the Puma website to try and buy his shoes (now that’s the dedication of a fan). I do rather like these white shoes but they are white and I don’t think I can pull that off ( I don’t think many people can pull off white footwear!)

So this time I’m not as inspired to walk in the shoes of my hero.

To be honest I do have a problem with Dean and his white things – I’m not that keen on seeing him holding a white guitar and as for the white jeans he wears far too often (shudder)…

This is Naomi’s second appearance in this series, and second time wearing boots although these cool buckle-y boots are a little cooler than last times wellies…
