My 8 records are:
1. A yodelling song by The Singing Cowboy (?) - last heard in the late 1940s when I was a child. It always accompanied Sunday lunch & I was devastated when it was taken off. Asked my mother why she couldn't put it on any more - as if it was her fault!
2. Chopin Walze Op. 69 no. 1 - to remind me of my mother who trained as a concert pianist. This is the record I would rush to save!)
3. Puccini: Lovely Maid in the Moonlight from La Boheme - To remind me of Miss Berry, music teacher, who, when I was 11 noticed that I went away with the fairies (while the other girls giggled) whenever opera was played. She took me to see this, my first opera. (More to this story!)
4. Roger Quilter's June - a song I sang at my last recital at college.
5. John Rutter's For the Beauty of the Earth - to remind me of my children's schooldays. My youngest sang this with her school choir.
6. Victor Borg: The Barrel. This is so funny that it would make me laugh and the speaking voice would make me feel I wasn't alone.
7. Schubert's Et incarnatus est from the Mass in E Flat D950 - because it is so beautiful.
8. Andantino from the Concert for Flute, Harp and Orchestra K 299 - Mozart is a "must have"! This music is so peaceful and would calm me down when frustrated at that ship sailing past!
Book: An anthology of every poem ever written - to give me countless stories and reading material.
Luxury: A toss up between a piano and water colour painting materials to practise skills I haven't touched for years.
P.S. I'm going on holiday tomorrow so, if you wished to contact me, you wouldn't be able to for 2 weeks. I hope this is where you wanted me to post my choice - I'm rather electronically challenged!

I think its for a Desert Island Discs celebration programme to be broadcast during June, they'll make a sort of compilation (for want of a better word) of the most popular tracks.

Thanks DaveH for that. It never really came across in the post but I had real affection for Lullaby - spent a lot of lunchtimes ploughing through the phenomenal amount of stuff there and rarely walked out empty-handed - I still look up Chignell Place every time I walk past with a pang of nostalgia, and wishing it was still there!
